• Beacon Flag Car, Inc. provides nationwide services to the U.S. and Canada.  Specializing in pilot car and high pole services, our drivers are certified nationwide.
• Through its sister corporation, we maintain a fleet of vehicles (minimum of 13) which are leased to qualified, skilled Independent Contractors.  Owning the vehicles ensures that each is equipped, insured, well maintained and in compliance with each states rules and regulations.
• We retain a minimum of six drivers and more during the busy season.  Prior to leasing onto Beacon, they must provide proof of their driving record and their insurability.  We then determine if each applicant possesses the necessary skills and aptitude required for this type of work.  We also partner with other independent contractors and pilot car companies providing access to additional qualified drivers when needed.

• A flag car driver escorts permitted oversize loads.
• A flag car driver drives in front of or behind the oversize load and apprises the load driver, via CB radio of any and all obstacles.
• A flag car driver may be required to assist the load driver in the preparation of the load for safe and legal transport.
• A flag car driver must familiarize him/herself with the permitted routes in order to guide the load safely.

Vehicle Requirements

• CB Radio
• PA million dollar liability coverage with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania designated as additional insured.
• Each escort vehicle must be equipped with regulation lights, signs and flags and some states require miscellaneous equipment such  as triangles, flares, vests, stop/slow signs, etc.
• Each escort vehicle must display an emergency light permit for certain states.
• Vehicles are leased to Independent Contractors residing within the South Central Pennsylvania area only.

Driver Requirements

• Each driver must be certified in all applicable states.  You must be 21 years of age to be certified.  The cost for this certification is your expense.  Costs vary per state certification.  (Beacon will assist with the necessary information to become certified in the applicable states only to those individuals signing on with Beacon.)
• Each driver must carry an active cell phone.
• Escort drivers must be licensed drivers possessing excellent driving records and be insurable.  Your driving record will be checked prior to leasing onto Beacon.
